A. B. ELLIS, Division of Chemistry, National Science Foundation, 4201 Wilson Blvd., Arlington, VA 22230 The National Science Foundation (NSF) supports basic research and education across the full spectrum of scientific and engineering disciplines. This presentation will describe some of the funding opportunities offered by NSF and the mechanisms and criteria used to evaluate proposals. Strategies for developing successful proposals will be discussed. Examples of projects currently supported by NSF that may be of interest to symposia participants will be presented.
