R. M. LAPIN, Zehren-Friedman Associates, 1335 N. Astor St., Chicago, IL 60610

For fifteen years, the speaker has facilitated the planning and implementation of quality improvement processes in both the U.S. and the U.K. Some organizations have trained hundreds of people and “hoped” that improvement would spontaneously generate from all the training. They have been disappointed with the results. Others have structured and supported training programs so that business results are achieved. This presentation will address the structure and support necessary for training to drive business success. Topics to be presented include: 1. The importance and demonstration of management commitment; 2. The single biggest question to answer for training to be successful -- What do you want people to do after the training is complete?; 3. How people learn and structuring training programs accordingly; 4. Contents: "Work Group Quality Improvement" -- 8 sessions lasting 2-hours each and conducted at weekly intervals. This program has been used for thousands of people in many organizations; 5. Putting together the training schedule; 6. Who should do the training and how should they be prepared?; and 7. The role and how’s of reward and recognition.
