DIVISION LECTURE: Industrial Sustainability--Strong Medicine for a Decent Future |

FENNEMA, Dept. of Food Science, University of Wisconsin, Madison, WI 53706 Virtually all nations of the world view vigorous industrial development as necessary for the economic betterment of their citizens. Yet, industrialization has resulted in well known problems with respect to the healthfulness, and proper management of the environment, and with imprudent consumption of non-renewable resources. Drastic alteration of industrial practices are needed, some of which are being adopted, to assure that future generations can live in a satisfactory state of well-being.
