Career planning

S. WILSON, Coordinator, Life Sciences Career Services Center, Texas A & M University, Koldus, Suite 209, College Station, TX 77843-1233

From the moment that a student steps onto the college campus, he or she should begin to plan the path he or she will take after college graduation. Career planning tools vary from one-on-one advising, workshops, and mock interviews to participation in summer internships and cooperative education. Job search strategies range from simply participating in on-campus interviewing to actively using the Internet and alumni networks. Often, students fail to recognize all of the opportunities available to them, both on and off campus. During this session, these tools and opportunities will be explained and several job search strategies will be identified. Conference participants will leave this session with a greater understanding of the entire job search process, from identifying potential careers to successfully completing a behavioral interview.
